Saxophone
The saxophone is another single reed member of the woodwind family, even though it is made of brass. It reads in treble clef and can play both high and low notes. This versatile instrument is well-known as it can be heard in jazz, rock and band music. The saxophone belongs to a large family that ranges from small to very large instruments! In beginner band, everyone learns the alto saxophone, but some saxophone players will have an opportunity to play a tenor or baritone sax in 7th and 8th grade.
